![]() The local garage is trying hard but I think that there is an engineering design problemn at mmanufacturing that hads to be addressed. this time they changed the manual light rheostat that is functional at night but since all else shows no faults they don't know if it will work.they have suggested that the next time it occurs to pull the car over and see if the full headlights or the daytime rtunning lights are on as well as covering up the light sensor and then uncovering to see what happens. Just got the car back after 5 days in the shop. When I stopped at a rest stop in Ohio, I turned the car off and the remainder of the trip - about 2 hrs was fine. Make sure its not the alternator problems. I take off the black wire of the battery after i started the car. ![]() The clocks turn off by itself, but when i turn off the light, the clocks turn on again. Nissan changed the design in 2018, so the newer models should not. When i turn on my headlights, my dashboard, gear, windows backlight are not working or really dim. Anyway that was a problem for about an hour. If you’ve already had your headlights repaired and paid out-of-pocket, you can get reimbursed. Difficult on the PA turnpike where one wants to keep it at 65 to 70. Driving on 2-22 to Ohio from the Pgh PA area.in bright sunlight - not a cloud in the sky.the lights dimmed so one couldn't see the entertainment screen or the digital speed reading. I will get the same results - no error codes.- it is working like it should. I have had the problem on my 2012 equinox.been to the dealer three times in the past - and 4th time today. Good luck trying to get your dealer to believe you that something is not right. Because the dealer doesn't get a warning light or a code thrown at them then all they will tell you is it is performing as it should be. But try telling your dealer that and all you will get is, "your car is performing as it should, nothing wrong." And I quote. There has to be some sort of shorting out going on somewhere in the system or the sensor is not functioning properly. But the same thing has happened to my radio screen and DIC screen where the sensor kicked on my headlights but the screens dimmed so bad that you can not read anything on them. No, not the normal dimming that occurs when the sensor kicks in because it's overcast or you are driving through a dark area that has many trees or something. Answered by a verified Nissan Mechanic. I will find the tube tonight and post up what it was, or ask my wife, she is the photographer.Well, at least I don't feel like I'm crazy now since I've been trying to explain to folks on here on another thread that it is happening with my 2011 equinox. an indicator light is on the dash and there is no explanation in the owners manual for it. I can not recall what it is called but the glue I used is normally used to stick photos down, is rubbery, dries clear and neutral cure if you get it wrong you can still unstick it and the cured glue rubs off with your finger. All it needed was the filter film, the glue, a couple of screwdrivers and tweezers to slip the flim in with. It only took me an hour or so to do the whole job. Once it is out I don't think I even had to remove any screws from the dash assembly (I did it five years ago, memory is getting a bit dull) it was just a matter of very carefully levering the tabs in to pop the clear plastic panel off the cluster and then carefully glue the filter film in behind the screen printed front face of the dash without actually dissasembling anything more than that. The dash comes out pretty easily and as it is all electronic it is just a couple of wiring plugs to disconnect once removed, removing it was I think four screws behind the cowling, which popped off pretty easily.
